Monica Bueno

Monica is the founder of Pivot Point Studio- a design strategy consultancy focused on driving meaningful social change and making a direct positive impact to people's lives. 

Monica was recently Executive Director at Athenahealth. Athenahealth is a leader in network-enabled services for healthcare and point-of-care mobile apps in the United States. At Athenahealth Monica led the DesignOps team which included designers, front-end developers, qualitative and quantitative user research experts, recruiting experts and design operations specialists. DesignOps' goal at Athenahealth was to develop Innovation Infrastructure within the organization- building relevant user data, product development tools and systems for a large Research & Development team (over 230 scrum teams).

Prior to Athenahealth, Monica was Managing Principal & Service Design Leader at consulting firm Continuum developing innovative, socially meaningful and viable solutions for companies. At Continuum, she led the Service Design Group where she collaborated with leaders from BBVA, PepsiCo and American Express. Prior to joining Continuum, some of Monica’s clients included the American Red Cross, Philips, Blue Cross Blue Shield, SEIU, ASU and Coca-Cola.

An industrial and interaction designer by training, Monica is deeply committed to translating customer, business and technology research into innovative solutions that are desirable and relevant to clients and their stakeholders. Monica's work in the innovation field has garnered her several design awards. In 2011, she curated a Service Design program for the AIGA National Conference and speaks regularly about service experiences. Monica holds a degree in Product Design from Central Saint Martins and a Masters in Interaction Design from the Royal College of Art both in London, UK.
